How it works:
For this option, you are required to have a Williamstown transfer station decal. You can find information on the Transfer Station guidelines and cost here.
Participants are asked to purchase an Eco-caddy for a one-time fee of $35 by completing this form. We will deliver the bin to your home, and the town will send you a bill. The bin is proof of payment for the program, and we hope this new cost will be offset by your having fewer bags of other trash.
You will bring your Eco-caddy to the Transfer Station yourself, where you will dump the contents into the large designated compost collection bins located in the compost shed. Please make sure you use a compostable liner* in your Eco-caddy (or no liner at all) and leave the liner open before throwing it into the collection bins at the Transfer Station as this makes it easier for the microbes to do their work. Once a week a hauler will bring the contents of the collection bins to their composting facility.
*The company that makes the Eco-caddy also sells compostable bags: https://ecosafe.green/product/21x25-compostable-bag-liner/ but you can use any 8 gallon or 30 liter BPI certified compostable bag.

If you would like to become a backyard composter, you can set up your own compost system. Periodically, we will also have EarthMachines available for purchase at a reduced cost. Please contact Ann McCallum at ann@burrandmccallum.com for availability and pricing information.
Please be aware that commercial composting facilities, such as the one our haulers use, apply a hotter process than backyard composting and can process more categories of organics. See “What can I compost?” to learn the specifics .
